NATURAL DISASTERS
Natural disasters occur with regularity throughout the world, yet there is a certain security in the geography and seclusion of western North Carolina that has been remarked upon by many. If the history is explored, however, the record shows that the region has had its share of natural and man-made disasters, many of which have been recorded by various publications, scribbled into diaries, and remarked upon by newspapers. Some of these recorded accounts are included in these pages.
