The American startup Avelo Airlines will add four routes and two new destinations to its network in October and November.
The two new points on Avelo’s roadmap will be Lansing (LAN) in Michigan and Newport News/Williamsburg (PHF) in Virginia. From LAN, the carrier will fly to Orlando (MCO) twice a week starting October 27.
“LAN’s new Avelo nonstop service to Orlando, combined with low fares, provides additional travel options in our area just in time for winter vacation,” said LAN CEO Nicole Noll- Williams, in a statement.
MCO is one of three aircraft bases in Aveloas well as Burbank (BUR) in California and New Haven (HVN) in Connecticut. The Orlando base opened in June.
Avelo will be the only airline to serve Florida nonstop from LAN and PHF.
Avelo will also launch a twice-weekly service between FLL and Wilmington (ILM) in North Carolina starting November 11. Avelo already serves HVN, MCO and Baltimore (BWI) from ILM.
ILM manager Jeff Bourk praised the FLL route, saying South Florida “is our biggest unserved market.”
Avélo is a fully Boeing 737NG operator.
