Harold Kolkin, Jr. – Pioneer of Bemidji


Harold “Tex” Elmer Kolkin, Jr., 61, of Cass Lake, MN died Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the former American Legion (Cassi Lake White Earth Community Center) in Cass Lake, MN. Visits will take place one hour before the service. The Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji assisted the family.

Harold was born on April 24, 1961 in Bemidji, MN, the son of Harold and Lavonne (Troxel) Kolkin.

He was raised and educated in Cass Lake, where he graduated from Cass Lake High School. Harold was self-employed in carpentry, mooring, roofing and shingling. Tex met his Linda Treichel and married on July 17, 1998. They lived in Cass Lake. He looked forward to his weekly visits with his cousin Donna Kimmes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Kolkin, 2 sons – Kristopher (Tara) Kolkin of Bemidji Dusty (Rayne) Kolkin of Cass Lake, grandchildren Kace, Carly and Liberty, Hunter, Addison and Avery, 2 stepdaughters – Nicole Treichel of North Carolina, Brittany (Matt) Collins, brother – Donovan (Phyllis) Kolkin of Bemidji 2 sisters Angie Buchanan Kolkin of Twin Valley, MN, Michelle (Clayton) Landa of Bemidji, step-mother Florence Olson of Guthrie, step- sister-in-law Cindy (Steve) Miller of Bemidji, brother-in-law Brian (Anita) Treichel of Laporte, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
