Three North Carolina Cities Rank in Top 35 College Cities

The South is teeming with some of the best college towns and North Carolina features some of the best college towns in the country, according to WalletHub rankings.

WalletHub compared more than 400 US cities of varying sizes on 30 key indicators of academic, social and economic opportunities for students. There are data ranging from the cost of living to the quality of higher education.

The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (unsurprisingly) took 13th place on the list – the highest for a school in our state. It was right behind Tampa, Florida, for comparison.

Raleigh arrived just behind Chapel Hill, the proud home of North Carolina State University. Wilmington came in at # 35 on the list, thanks to the beach vibe at UNCW. And Charlotte? Well, it’s on the list… arriving at # 63. Not too bad. And finally, the last city on the list is the city of Compton, CA at number 415. Ouch.
