When choosing a place to live, many factors play a role in this decision. You want a good education for your children, but living in a highly educated area has other advantages. More education means higher wages, which in turn means economic growth and higher tax revenues. But which cities in North Carolina are home to the most educated people? Well, two of them made it into the top 20 of WalletHub’s latest list. The list is of the most and least educated cities in America in 2022. Another city in NC has also just cracked the top 30.

How do you determine the most educated cities? WalletHub compared the 150 largest metropolitan statistical areas on 11 key metrics. They measured the proportion of adults aged 25 and over with a bachelor’s degree or higher. Then, this number was compared to the quality of the public school system and the education gender gap.

This was not good news for North Carolina, however. Unfortunately, some cities also ranked low on this list. Including Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton, NC coming in at 145 out of 150. Another major city, absent from this list, sat at 53.
